AGM and Soldout Ignition Day Start BC’s SeasonPosted: December 21st, 2013
On Saturday 23 November, the CSIA BC Committee and 120 CSIA members kicked off the season at Whistler. Ignition Day Whistler was sold out this year as CSIA members from Whistler, the Lower Mainland and even the Okanagan came to enjoy some early season turns.
This event is becoming the classic launch of the season for the BC and Yukon Region. This year for the first time participants not only got an early tune up of their skiing but earned three educational credits as well. This year these can be applied towards completion of the CSIA Level 2 certification but the progressive implementation of the new educational model means credits earned this season can be applied to completing other certification soon.
Following a fun and energetic day of sun and snow members met at the Aava hotel for a social and AGM. Amends to the BC Committee constitution were considered and approved. These can be found in draft form in the latest edition of the ProView.
The conclusion of the AGM saw the election of three seats for the Board of Directors. Tom Klingspohn, from Fernie, joins the board as the new Kooetnay Zone Representative. Paul Sauve, from Whistler, was elected the new Coast Zone Representative. Jonathan Mosley became the new Director at Large, replacing outgoing Board President, Jeff Topp.
Jeff remains on the board as the Past President for this year. Mike Manara, from Mt Washington is the new President, with Jonathan Mosley filling the role of Vice President.
The BC Committee wishes CSIA members to join them in thanking Jeff, Past President Josh Foster, and former Kootenay Zone Representative Jonathan Squires for their dedicated and passionate work on behalf of the BC and Yukon membership. All three have volunteered countless hours over the last six years to benefitting the BC Committee.
There are two further Ignition Days took place in Big White on 7 December and Fernie on 14 December. Even more events are scheduled for the new year, including the City Lights, Northern Festival and Women’s Only Workshop. Full event listings and registration can be found here.
